Independence Day

Stack of Lost Belongings canvas sleeves

It’s the fourth of July – American Independence Day.  Though the band is based in Britain, this seemed like a fitting day to release The Lost Belongings EP into the world.  Partly in honour of Craig Murderbird’s return to British shores and partly because the band is currently about as independent as it’s possible to be.

So… visit the website Shop to order your copy of the EP.  It’s available via download on Amazon and RawRip so far.  iTunes is coming soon, though iPod users don’t need to feel left out.  MP3s from both Amazon and RawRip will work on your iPod and the Amazon MP3 Downloader can automatically add the EP to your iTunes library.

You can order physical CDs by post.  There’s been a lot of interest in the limited edition version with the hand-painted canvas sleeves.  Mr Crook has indeed suffered for that particular piece of art – becoming Mr Croak in the process – and will hopefully be wearing a face-mask the next time he picks up a can of spray paint.

We’re aiming to despatch all pre-ordered CDs in a couple of days.  You’ll get an e-mail confirmation the moment we’ve stuck the stamps on the jiffy bags.  Londoners can also buy copies of the EP at the two Rough Trade stores and we believe that it will also be available from Rough Trade via mail order.

Thanks to everyone who showed their support in Camden on Thursday.  Hope you enjoyed it as much as the band did, despite various unforeseen hassles.  The thieving bastards who nicked part of Bob’s drum kit should hope that he never catches up with them; the beak of a pissed-off Murderbird rips flesh like candy-floss.

Does anyone have any pictures or video from Thursday night?  We’d love to hear from you, either by e-mail or in the comments.  Also, any other thoughts or questions are welcome.  Whether you’ve heard the new material online, at the gig, on the CD or via download, what do you reckon?

Don’t worry, though EP sales have so far been very healthy there are still plenty left.

The PayPal shopping cart thingy lets you use your PayPal account if you have one, but also lets you do a one-off payment with credit/debit card if you prefer. Here’s how…

When you’ve filled your basket with goodies and are ready to pay, you arrive at the page where it’s asking you for your PayPal login on the right-hand side.

On the left-hand side there’s a “Don’t have a PayPal account?” section. Click on the blue “Continue” link and you can enter a wide variety of card types there.

If you can’t see this, you might already be signed in to PayPal – go to the PayPal site and sign out there, then go back into your basket via the “View Cart” button on the shop page.

Might be a good short-term option for you, take some of the pressure off getting your PayPal account sorted out.

Hey blue-fits, we got your EP, yellow kill cat t-shirt, and a poster. Meeting HG tomorrow, (aren’t we?) will be sorting info out for then. x Keep Well In Your Corner Of Hell. Mr Crook

  7. Hg on 5 July 2009 at 17:41 says:

Yeah, hopefully down Med-way tomorrow. Lost in alcohol with Mr Tips in a London Bridge drinking den at present. He’s digging the crazy murderous sounds as I steal someone’s wi-fi. I am the continuous salesman, it seems.

  8. Lupen Crook on 5 July 2009 at 17:53 says:

Nice day for it. Hopefully see you tomorrow punk rocker. Say ‘Hi’ to Mr Tips, whoever / whatever he is.

  9. Hg on 5 July 2009 at 22:05 says:

Mr Bluefits… yr payment received safely. We’ll sort out the other stuff tomorrow.

Mr Crook… Mr Tips hopes to encounter you when the leaves fall from the trees. See you tomorrow – once I’ve awaited packages from the post-man, I’ll be down in a jiffy. Lame, thoughtless, half-drowned, bearing sustenance… 11am-ish maybe, or before the sun hits the heights for sure. Un-aware or flat-lining? I’ll be a mercurial discoverer if no puzzle clues are forthcoming.

I’m dropping the babe off at Wendy’s for about 9.30. Our Yank is Lining the Flat as I tip and tap. Maybe we meet there and walk along, depends when you are gonna be down. I’ll be at the DENT for 11 – imagine.

Mr Bluefits – sorry, the EPs went in the post yesterday before we saw your comment. Don’t be too disappointed when it turns up sans scribble.

However, in one sense the sleeves are already signed, just not in the literal fashion with a pen. Put it like this: should anything appalling ever happen to Mr Crook, we might need to borrow some of the canvas sleeves back to scrape together enough DNA to get him cloned. If this is too cryptic, go back and read this post again :-)

  13. dorian gray matter (bluefits.)x on 7 July 2009 at 13:43 says:

too cryptic? never! you’re welcome to borrow it bck anytime if need be :P nah thats fine, i figured i’d asked too late after id had the confirmation of it being sent yesterday.it actually arrived today tho so sorted :) am slamming it out as we speak!
many thanks for being prompt, i couldnt fault you guys, the cd (physically/astheatically/musically) ;)

    hope you are well

Excellent :) package received today. Immeadiately subjected the rest of the office to it’s contents, no- one left. Loving the fold out canvas sleeve. Something I miss about the days of Vinyl LP’s is that they were large enough to hold ‘proper’ artwork – this is a welcome return.

Well after months of anticipation I got my Lost Belongings EP through the door and….what a pile of total pish!

Only joking!! It’s fucking brilliant! I love every single second of it! A highlight being the bass on Vices Manifest O. It’s like a snake on a banana peel that one! :) Nice one boys- you’ve done it again! Roll on September!!

  18. dAnBeRToL on 13 July 2009 at 20:06 says:

PS Hg, are you insinuating that the band have spunked on my cd cover?

    I could only taste paint.

    ;)

  19. Hg on 13 July 2009 at 21:55 says:

Yes, I guess I might be insinuating that. Or I might not. That’s kind of how insinuation works, isn’t it? :-)

The totally honest – if infuriatingly evasive – answer is that I can neither confirm nor deny the biological constituents of any individual EP sleeve. The canvases were massive and the human body can only generate a certain amount of fluid within a defined timeframe.

Only a lab analysis could give you a definitive answer to your question…
