Here is a man of many words
Backed and forthed, topped and turved
A pretty mother and a man called Dad
I met him outside of the club
Under the archway – fell in love
He read a book and I read his mind
He came round when she was in
He was kinda weird, we weren’t that keen
I said “Some other time friend”
Then she left and we got high
Chasing dragons far and wide
Cutting shapes out of the sky
And then we walked into the night
I always thought we would survive
But then I got that call
We only caught the tail end
For your sake (and mine) I hope we chase them again
But if you think this is the end
You are mistaken, for my friend was just a little worse for wear
He couldn’t walk but still he ran
Through the orchards, ask his Nan
She was calling both our names, again and again
But we were masters of our lies
Chasing dragons through the sky
A glass of Shiraz on the side
And yeah I led him through the night
So what? I never thought he’d die
We only caught the tail end
For your sake (and mine) I hope we chase them again
You said spurious
I said curious
And they thought we’d lost our minds
Chasing dragons through the sky
But now that man has no more words
Just a memory that serves
And a grave down by the tracks
And that’s the tale end.
